Your familiarity with the destination determines whether you arrive there successfully. The destination you choose must be known to you, and it must be on the same plane of existence as you. If you target an object, it must be able to fit entirely inside a 10-foot cube, and it can’t be held or carried by an unwilling creature. The spell instantly transports you and up to eight willing creatures of your choice that you can see within range, or a single object that you can see within range, to a destination you select. Where would you go with this start to a character? There is no benefit to upcasting Spike Growth and monsters may start shrugging it off before too long.7th level Conjuration Casting Time: 1 action Range: 10 feet Target: You and up to eight willing creatures that you can see within range, or a single object that you can see within range Components: V Duration: Instantaneous Class: Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard I am aware that the traditional way to maximise Spike Growth for crazy damage is to go Moon Druid and to drag monsters around it (a la Ep 40), I am just not personally interested in doing that.ĥth level brings access to 3rd level spells (Plant Growth, Erupting Earth?) after which, I might consider multi-classing. Then on their turn, the shortest route off the spikes is another 4d4 over difficult terrain. Using Thorn Whip to drag them 10 feet into SG, particularly if you are 60 feet away on the other side of the zone, means they will take 4d4 from the drag, as well as the TW damage. Goal is to strand melee monsters within the middle of the Spike Growth zone such that they cannot move without taking significant SG damage. If not in melee, position yourself across the Spike Growth zone from the monster and Thorn Whip (60 foot range) pull them across the spikes. If monster wants to melee attack you it must move suffering additional BB damage and, hopefully, 4d4 by moving across spikes. I believe that RAW you can teleport into the Spike Growth zone without taking damage (you are not moving into or within the area). If monster has gotten into melee with you Booming Blade, then teleport (Misty Step or Bonus Action command Wildfire Spirit). Start combat by laying down a zone of Spike Growth to deal 2d4 per 5 feet moved through it Bonus Action Shillelagh or instruct Flame Seed from pet. If you can access non-metal Scale Mail though, maximum of 14 Dex is fine. With non-metal armour restrictions for Druids, it may be difficult to wear medium armour other than Hide, at which point, Studded Leather with a higher Dex seems like it might be worth it (i.e. The Spell Sniper feat grants access to BB and doubles the range of Thorn Whip.Ĭustom Lineage means you can start with 18 Wis, but only 14/15 Dex, 14/15 Con. With my attacks I will pull them onto spikes or Booming Blade so that if they want to move, they will need to incur further damage.

Utilising teleportation to zip around a battlefield that I have made a nightmare for monsters to navigate via Spike Growth. Either that or I just bring it out for a one-shot at lower levels. That led me to the following build but after 4 levels, I feel that it is basically complete as far as the concept goes, so I am looking for advice to grow beyond this level. In particular, the Fiery Teleportation action that the Wildfire Spirit can take if you direct it using your Bonus Action. However, my interest was tweaked by the Circle of Wildfire.

I am relatively new to DnD and the Druid class has never held too much interest for me, mostly because Wild Shape does not appeal.
